Firefighters Knock Down Fully Involved Vehicle Fire

The vehicle was reported as stolen.

Firefighters put out a fully involved vehicle fire by a vacant building at 202 Tedesco St. Monday night.

Firefighters extinguished the flames with foam and cut out the vehicle's engine compartment with a saw, said Marblehead Fire Capt. Michael Porter.

The vehicle was a 2005 Toyota Highlander that was reported to Lynn police as stolen, according to a Marblehead police log entry.

Fire crews arrived to find the automobile unoccupied.

The fire was in a rear, tucked away portion of the former General Glover Restaurant property, located near the Swampscott and Salem lines, said Capt. Porter.

The fire was reported at 7:53 p.m. and fire crews were on the scene in six minutes, at 7:59. They cleared the scene at 9:19 p.m., he said.

The building was not exposed to flames, the captain said. No one was injured.
