Fire on Lee Street Started in Kitchen

The fire left two apartment units uninhabitable.

Fire investigators traced the cause of Saturday's fire in an apartment building at 24 Lee St. to a kitchen stove.

"We believe it was accidental, the result of the stove," Marblehead Fire Chief Jason Gilliland said.

The fire was in a third-floor apartment unit, the fire chief said.

Fire got into walls and ceilings, ultimately leaving two adjoining apartments uninhabitable due to fire, smoke and water damage, the chief said.
