Tree Limb Falls on Car With Man Inside

The man escaped injury when the large limb fell at 2 Leo Road shortly after 4 p.m. Sunday.

The Dragan family and visitors were sitting down to tea in the living room Sunday afternoon shortly after 4 when Emma Dragan looked out the picture window and saw a huge tree limb falling.

She and the guests heard the thump. They then saw the limb and branches on the Honda parked curbisde at 2 Leo Road, at the corner of Humphrey Street.

"Oh my God, Shawn is inside (the car)," Emma said.

The family rushed outside and saw that Shawn O'Brien was okay. Shawn is David and Emma's son-in-law.

The Dragan's son called 911 and Marblehead fire and police were soon on the scene.

By 4:40 p.m., clean-up crews had the tree limb cut in sections and were feeding smaller branches into a tree chipper.

The Dragans and Shawn stood outside the house watching the workers finish as the cold wind continued to whip — the onlookers still clearly relieved that no one was hurt.

The Dragans have been living in their new house for the last month after moving there from Melrose.

Wind warnings are in effect until early Monday morning. Gusts may reach as high 48 mph, according to the National Weather Service.
