Daughter Calls Police on Parents for Rent Money

The following is an excerpt from the Marblehead Police Department's log:

Tuesday, Jan. 15:

  • At 8:28 a.m., a person came into the station and reported finding a wallet in his yard. The owner was called and picked up the wallet. Everything but the cash was in it.  
  • At 12:53 p.m., a caller asked police to monitor a transfer of belongings from a Brackett Place residence.  
  • At 4:07 p.m., a caller on Pleasant Street said a man approached him and said he was going to kill himself and asked him if he wanted to watch. Police located the man in question and he said he has Tourette syndrome and declined medical attention. 
  • At 8:27 p.m., a caller reported to police that her parents were holding $600, a bed, bureau and books because they do not want her to leave. The caller subsequently told police that she was mainly looking for money to pay rent for her new place and to get gas for her vehicle. Police met the caller at the Humphrey Street residence. The caller gathered some belongings. The cash matter will be handled in civil court.  

Wednesday, Jan. 16

  • At 9:09 a.m., police and fire responded to a Yorkshire Road address where a 93-year-old woman was breathing but would not wake up. The woman was transported to the hospital. 
  • At 12:30 p.m., police served a restraining order on Cottage Street.
  • At 3:26 p.m., police received a call from a Nonantum resident who said she had received a call from a foreigner who told her she had won $1 million. The caller told the woman to go some place and sign some paperwork. The woman said she would not and hung up the phone.
  • At 6:50 p.m., a 62-year-old Humphrey Street resident requested transportation to the hospital for flu/pneumonia-like symptoms. The person was transported to the hospital by ambulance.
