Boat Burns in Marblehead Harbor

The Beverly Fire Department extinguished a vessel that burned in Marblehead Harbor Sunday afternoon.

Firefighters aboard the Beverly Fire Department's fire boat quickly extinguished a fire that broke out on a vessel in Marblehead Harbor Sunday afternoon.

At 1:57 p.m., local firefighters, the Marblehead Harbormaster and the Beverly Fire Department's fire boat responded to a report of an active boat fire in Marblehead Harbor.

The boat that burned was a 21-foot fiberglass center console boat and the blaze did not result in any injuries, according to a representative of the Beverly Fire Department.

The investigation into what caused the fire is ongoing, fire officials said.

The boat, which was a complete loss, was reportedly towed to Tucker's Wharf to be inspected. It will be stored at Riverhead Beach.
