A Marblehead man arrested for allegedly offering to perform sexual acts for a fee in the parking lot of Devereux Beach Friday morning was arraigned in court Tuesday afternoon.
Benjamin M. Walsh, 26, of 57 Maverick St., Marblehead, pleaded not guilty Tuesday in Lynn District Court to a charge of offering to engage in sexual conduct for a fee.
On Nov.29, while perusing Craigslist personal ads for criminal activity, Marblehead Detective Sgt. Sean Sweeney came across an ad placed by a Marblehead man who was offering to perform oral sex for money, according to court documents.
After replying to the personal ad, Sweeney said he received an email back from someone claiming to be named Brandon Cox, who agreed to meet him in the rear parking lot at Devereux Beach at 11 a.m.
At 11 a.m., Walsh reportedly met Sweeney in a vehicle parked in the back of the lot and offered to perform oral sex on him for $60, according to Sweeney's report.
Judge James Lamothe ordered Walsh released on his own recognizance. He is scheduled to return to court for a pretrial hearing on Jan. 29
