A Phone Scam and an Axe on the Sidewalk

The following information came from the Marblehead Police Department. Where charges are listed, they do not indicate a conviction.

Tuesday, Sept. 10

  • 7:51 a.m., a citizen said she was being threatened via text over a problem with a mutual friend. The woman will contact Beverly police for this matter.
  • 8:40 a.m., police received a no trespass request for an individual at a Cedar Street location.
  • 9:03 a.m., police visited a Jersey Street person to help find a solution to his issues.
  • 12:15 p.m., police received a report from a passerby who said a car hit the sign on the island at Elm and Sewall Streets and almost hit her.
  • 3:20 p.m., a hit and run was reported at Pleasant and Essex Streets.
  • 3:34 p.m., a caller on Lafayette Street received a call from a foreign sounding male who said she had won millions in a drawing and all she had to do was give a driver a check $200 when he comes at 5 p.m. to deliver the check. The caller said she knew it was a scam but wanted police to be aware of it.
  • 10:20 p.m., a dog walker found an axe on the sidewalk at Humphrey and West Streets.
  • 11:13 p.m., a false alarm sounded in the bell tower.
