A Dog Bite and Mom Reportedly Steals Daughter's Work Check

The following information came from the Marblehead Police Department. Where charges are listed, they do not indicate a conviction.

Tuesday, Aug. 13

  • At 9:23 a.m., a man walked into the Central Fire Station saying he went to a home on Village Street to give an estimate on work and the homeowner's dog, a golden retriever, bit him on the forearm and leg. 
  • At 9:59 a.m., police stopped a vehicle at Pleasant and Essex Streets and charged Shawn Shepard, 24, 26 Haley Road, Marblehead, with operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license.
  • At 11:06 a.m., a party who works in town agreed to come to the police station to pick up a restraining order that had been taken out against him.
  • At 1:06 p.m., a caller reported that a baseball went through a window at a Seaview Avenue home.
  • At 5:12 p.m., police received a report of a breaking and entering at a Leggs Hill address. The caller reported that the home's air conditioning unit had been pushed in to gain entrance.
  • At 10:07 p.m., police and fire units responded to a report from Ocean Avenue of kids screaming. The kids were running through the bogs.
Wednesday, Aug. 14
  • At 11 a.m., a daughter on Gerry Street reported that her mom had taken the daughter's work check from her purse, forged her signature on the $180 check and cashed it. The incident allegedly occured in Salem. Police told the daughter she would need to report the incident in Salem since that is where it allegedly took place.
  • At 2:32 p.m., a Pilgrim Road caller reported receiving harassing phone calls from a former tenant.
  • At 3:11 p.m., a hit-and-run accident was reported at Prospect Street and Washington Street.
  • At 3:17 p.m., a tree limb fell on Green Street and was moved to the sidewalk. The tree warden was notified.
  • At 6:34 p.m., a syringe and needle was found in the driveway at Hawkes Street address.
  • At 10:32 p.m., police received a report of a fight on Atlantic Avenue. It was apparently two brothers who were fighting. Police were on the lookout for the vehicle they were in.
  • At 10:54 p.m., police received a report that people were fishing on the Commercial Street pier. Police checked it out and no one was there.
Thursday, Aug. 15

  • At midnight, police charged Jose Alicea, 28, of 391 Mountain Ave. Apt. 1, Revere, with distribution of a Class D drug and a drug violation near a school/park.
