Car Stickered in Village Plaza

OK, so....today I went to Village Plaza to stop into the Drug store, and then drove over to the other lot by the Liquor store to pick up wine.  After I parked, I decided to stop into another establishment first, which apparently is not a Village Plaza tenant (which I didn't know).  As I walked 50 feet past the Liquor store to stop in at the other location, there was a man glaring at me, but he didn't say anything.  When I came out and walked back to go into the Liquor I noticed I had a big bright orange sticker on my driver side rear window, telling me the parking was for Village Plaza only.  I talked to a few people afterward, and found out that the man silently glaring at me was the person who monitors the lot and placed the sticker.  Of course now I can't get the sticker off.  What I don't understand is why he didn't SAY something as I walked by him, and why he doesn't put a big orange flyer under the windshield wipers like a meter maid would.  Sticking it on the window seems like vandalism to me.  I contact the MPD and they did not see it that way, but then I heard that this man is a former police officer, so hmmm.  I also called MR Rockett Management and suggested that the man use flyers instead of stickers.  Doubt that will happen, but I felt I needed to be heard.  I realize we have parking issues in town, especially in winter....but the kicker is, the lot I was in was only a 1/4 full at the time....and the other establishment had a free parking spot right out front, but since I was going to stop in at a 'ok to park here' store afterwards, I just...parked where I parked.  As I mentioned, if he had bothered to speak to me, instead of glaring at me, I would have moved the vehicle once I found that I shouldn't have parked there to walk 50 feet to another business, then back to a business where parking where I did was OK to do.  Thanks for letting me vent, and wish me luck in my sticker removal.

Franny, that sounds like the MPD is showing favoritism for a former police officer. Maybe we should also sticker the Village Plaza landlord's trucks when they're there too. After all when harassment is good for the goose it's also good for the gander.

How long were you in that other store? I saw him talk to a lady going into the Yoga place who parked in the main parking lot and she all but told him where he could go with his suggestion she couldn't park there. I guess he learned it's easier just to put on the sticker becasue they are going to park there anyway.

Gee and I thought that the Yoga studio was part of Village 2 or 3. What a pain. So if you aren't going to a place in Village 1 you can't park either. This is getting very confusing. I think that a warning would be in order at least if the lot is not full. I will never be able to go to the jewelry store again. Good grief. If I were a retired police person in this town I think I would look for a part time job maybe in a whole different town.

Reasoning, I think it was about 15 mins.? As I said before...I just wish he had said something instead of glaring at me when I walked by....I WOULD have moved the car....honestly had no idea it wasn't considered part of the Village. I've only been in town for about a year and a half and am still learning the protocol on who owns what, and where one is and isn't allowed to park. Might be nice it there was a directory legend like one would find in a mall. And yes Harry...it did feel like favoritism, but I'm not wasting any more time on Rockett or Mean Guy With Stickers. Life is too short. Just as a follow-up....I was down there today and he gave me the 'I'm watching you' signal from across the parking lot (you know when one points index and middle fingers to one's eyes then points them at you?). So I laughed and did it right back at him! Not going to let him get me upset anymore.

You go girl. A year and a half...good grief, I've lived here since I was 4 years old (trust me a long time) and I still don't get all the rules. I have know the gentleman in question for many years and always thought of him as a pretty good guy, and he was a good cop as far as I know. But in his retirement...not so nice. But Franny this really is a nice town to live in...I wouldn't want to be anywhere else. Just consider him one of a few old grumpy Yanks. You are right to "let it go." Good luck.
