Better yet: What is the Dump Fee for?

Why do we have a dump fee?
What is covered by the dump fee?

The answer:  The dump is an arbitrary TAX levied by a board not empowered to Tax.  By state law a fee must be tied to and fund a particular service not available to non payers.  The dump fee merely augments the cost of running the town dump and mostly subsidizes the commercial users.    In fact the money collected goes directly to the general fund and has no impact at all on the town dump budget!

The beach fee also does not go to offset the costs of running or cleaning the beachs.

It is just an illegal TAX.

Stay tuned as in the near future there will be more to say about this from Marblehead Citizens for Fiscal Responsibility
