Obituary: Ruth A. (Lamson) Smith, 94, of Marblehead

Ruth A. (Lamson) Smith, 94, of Marblehead, passed away on May 17, 2014 following a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Warren N. Smith. Born in Marblehead, she was the daughter of the late Allen and Mable (Snow) Lamson. 

Raised and educated in Marblehead, she was a graduate of Marblehead High School, class of 1938. Ruth worked in the office at Winslow's Chips and the B&M Railroad in Marblehead for several years. She was a volunteer at the Marblehead Female Humane Society and Meals on Wheels. A true Marbleheader, she loved rowing and spending time on the water. She also liked quilting.

Mrs. Smith is survived by her children, Henry Allen Smith, Bradford Hale Smith, and Allison Smith Dennis and her husband Allan all of Marblehead; 9 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A graveside service will be held at Waterside Cemetery, 294 West Shore Drive, Marblehead on Wednesday, May 21 at 11AM. Relatives and friends respectfully invited.
