Obituary: John Sopka, Mathematician
A Memorial Celebration will be held on Saturday, February 1st at 2 PM in The Boston Yacht Club, 1 Front Street, Marblehead.
Marblehead, January 20, John J. Sopka, Jr., PhD., retired mathematician, age 94.
Father of John R. Sopka and his wife Debra K. Martin of Groton, Robert J. Sopka of Catonsville, MD, and Elisabeth M. Sopka of Boston, formerly of Marblehead.
Grandfather of Andrea Shear of NYC, Margaret Shear of NYC, Ted Shear of Davis, CA, and Christopher Sopka of Groton. Also leaves many nieces, nephews, and close friends.
A Memorial Celebration will be held on Saturday, February 1st at 2 PM in The Boston Yacht Club, 1 Front Street, Marblehead. Memorial Donations may be made to the Katherine & John Sopka Memorial Fund for Women in Physics, C/O National Grand Bank, 91 Pleasant Street, Marblehead, MA 01945.
