OBITUARY: George E. Prescott, Marblehead Native

Here is the obituary for George E. Prescott, 67, of Marblehead.

George E. Prescott, 67, of Marblehead, passed away peacefully at home on February 7, 2014. He was the husband of Marilyn "MAC" Prescott with whom he shared a loving relationship of 31 years. Born in Marblehead, he was the son of the late William F. and Anne (Haritos) Prescott.

Raised and educated in Marblehead, he was a graduate of Marblehead High School. George worked 25 years as the head of quality control for Ted Hood at Hood Yachts. He was also a bartender at the Riptide Lounge and the Gerry 5 for many years as well as a local fisherman. 

He was a member of the Okos, Gerry 5, the Market Square Association, and an auxiliary member of the VFW Post 2005 all in Marblehead. George was an avid and accurate dart shooter, and enjoyed playing poker with his buddies. He also loved to travel with his close friends, Richard Thistlewaite, Randy Morgenstern, Fran Peralta and others.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sister, Rebecca Prescott and her fiancé Stephen Small of Salem; and his brother, Bill Prescott of Marblehead. He also leaves his loving cousins and in-laws, as well as several nieces, nephews, and many dear friends.

A memorial service will be held at the Eustis and Cornell Funeral Home, 142 Elm Street, Marblehead on Sunday, February 16 at 1PM. Relatives and friends respectfully invited. Visitation will begin at 11:30AM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Marblehead Animal Shelter, 44 Village Street, Marblehead, MA 01945.
