Where's the Best Bacon in Town?

Do you bring home the bacon or pig out at a local restaurant? Tell us and read 11 reasons why bacon rules the world.

Bacon is one of maybe a handful of foods that shapes our understanding of the world.

The smell of bacon frying in a pan signals it's the weekend, that time moves a little slower and yummy breakfast is on the way. We can't express our love for bacon enough.

TELL US: Where do you go in town for the best bacon?

Continue to indulge by reading 11 more reasons bacon rules the world:

1. According to BaconToday.com, the "bacon market" is worth more than $2 billion. While we're on the subject, yes, bacon does have media outlets dedicated to it's existence.

2. Forget crime, blah blah. New Yorkers lead the country in bacon consumption, according to Bacon.Today.com

3. Forget vanilla or new car scent, hang this oddly tongue-like air freshener in your car and prove your fandom. Classy goes out the window and we don't care.

4. Bacon apple pie is a thing (check out the photos). Americans eat 17.9 pounds of bacon annually.

5. Bacon has a patron saint and his name is Saint Anthony the Abbot, according to Bacon Today. If his name is ringing a bell, it's because he's also the patron saint of lost things.

6. There are festivals devoted to bacon like this one in Baltimore where festival goers participate in bacon eating contests and have recipe competitions. Who needs Coachella?

7. Bacon has been a menu item since the 12th century, and "bring home the bacon" reportedly originates at that time as well. Any man who didn't fight with his wife for one year and one day was given a side of bacon to bring home.

8. Bacon makes up 11 percent of a pig's weight, according to Bacon Today. Which part of the pig your bacon comes from depends on what part of the world you're in.

9. The best way to a man's heart is through his stomach, which may be why bacon perfume exists. Really, could there be any other reason?

10. According to a "survey," 23 percent of people wondered if their partner loved bacon more than them.

11. Nothing to do with dynamite or other explosives, this dish is a lot like a jelly roll interpreted through pork. Crumbled bacon fills the middle and is surrounding by sausage wrapped in, you guessed it, bacon. Reportedly, the world largest version of this dish took 120 pounds of pork to create. Why does bacon rule? Because bacon makes its teammates better.

Now go forth and enjoy some bacon and eggs for breakfast.
