Fireworks Moved to July 5th

The Marblehead fireworks display has been postponed to July 5th due to the weather forecast.

With the updated weather forecast showing the cold front only moving offshore late on July Fourth combined with tropical storm Arthur passing to the SE of our waters late Friday night into early Saturday morning, the Town of Marblehead has decided today to move the Marblehead Fireworks & Harbor Illumination to Saturday, July 5th.

This decision was made after detailed consultation with Town Administration, Public Safety officials, expert weather forecasters, and the fireworks provider, as well as the barge operator.

However, weather patterns of tropical storms are inherently difficult to predict this early in the hurricane season, and a small chance remains that tropical storm Arthur changes course and causes sea conditions on Saturday morning that would make it impossible to move the fireworks barge to Marblehead harbor and load the fireworks safely. If these unsafe sea conditions arise, we will, of course, put safety first and will unfortunately have to cancel the show at that time. An announcement will be made on Saturday morning, if that situation should arise.
