Fireworks Cancelled, Illumination to Go Ahead

It will not be possible to safely move the fireworks barge to Marblehead Harbor on Saturday.

The July 4th fireworks show, originally moved to Saturday night as Hurricane Arthur moved through on Independence Day, has now been cancelled.

Organizers announced on Saturday morning that the fireworks provider said "due to unsafe sea conditions on Saturday morning, the captain of the tug boat has decided that it will not be possible to move the fireworks barge to Marblehead harbor and load the fireworks safely."

The Marblehead Harbor Illumination will still happen at 8:45 p.m. on Saturday, July 5. All the flares have been distributed and the ring of fire will still be seen around the harbor.
