Underwater in Salem Sound Lecture Series

Shellfish, Shellfish Everywhere and Not a Clam to Eat!

Soft-shell clams, mussels and quahogs all live in the nearby coastal waters of Salem Sound, yet none can be eaten. Learn about the state of our local shellfish beds, the important ecological functions they provide, and what we can expect in the future-- at this illustrated presentation by Barbara Warren, Executive Director of Salem Sound Coastwatch. Barbara will also share the preliminary results of a current quahog study at Forest River Park in Salem and Riverhead Beach in Marblehead. Free and open to the public. Sponsored by Salem Sound Coastwatch and the Abbot Public Library. Visit www.salemsound.org, call 978-741-7900 or email susany@salemsound.org
