Soulstice CSA accepting enrollment now! Organic food from East Coast only. Thursdays Jan thru May

Soulstice
CSA Offers Winter East Coast Fruit and Vegetable Share

Where do
get your winter fruits and vegetables? Do they travel from California or Peru? If
you’re interested in a more local solution, Soulstice CSA, in conjunction with
Enterprise Farm of Whately, MA, is offering an East Coast CSA Share from now
through May.
As suggested by the name, each share includes produce only from
the East Coast. Farms range from Prince Edward Island to Homestead, Florida.
Shares include items such as local storage vegetables, greens and sweet
potatoes from the Carolinas, and lovely citrus fruit and strawberries from
Florida.

The benefits of getting our food from an East Coast
"foodshed" are numerous. From the consumer end, members enjoy produce
that has traveled less and is consequently fresher and more nutritious. For
regional growers along the Eastern Seaboard, this relationship provides an
established market for their harvest, helping to ensure the viability of
sustainable farms. Closer to home, we provide a market for our New England
organic farmers, and encourage them to produce more storage vegetables for
winter distribution, and to develop means such as hoop houses for three season
growing.

Each share contains a variety of mostly organic fruits and vegetables. Pick-ups
are each Thursday, January 2nd thru May 1st from 3:30 – 6:30 p.m. The pick-up
location is the Greater Lynn Unitarian Universalist Church at 101 Forest Avenue
in Swampscott, MA. Delivery is available to most addresses in Salem, Marblehead
+ Swampscott for an additional charge.
