Marblehead to Halifax Ocean Race

Halifax Committee issues guidelines

for spectator boats

If the weather is good, upwards of 250 boats with on the

water spectators are expected along the starting course of the Marblehead to Halifax Ocean Race Sunday. The course after the start of the race will be shown by red,

yellow orange and green floating buoys.

The race committee hopes that pleasure boaters will be

respectful of the starting line and course by staying behind the floating marker buoys.

Some 25 boats from the Coast Guard, Coast Guard Auxiliary, Harbormasters from

Salem and Marblehead as well as volunteers from the yacht clubs will patrol the

starting area. They will also be posted at the turning marks. Their boats will be flying yellow flags under the watchful eye

of the Coast Guard Cutter Pendant, a 65 foot vessel assigned to oversee safety

of the starting area.
