Old North Church Organ, Tissue and Bone Marrow Donor Registration

Old North Church is sponsoring an Organ, Tissue and Bone Marrow Donor Registration Drive as part of National Donor Sabbath, an annual faith-based celebration of the lifesaving gift or organ, eye, tissue and bone marrow donation.

The public is invited to Old North’s registration event, Sunday, November 11, 2012 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the Parish Hall at 35 Washington Street, Marblehead.  You’ll have an opportunity to speak with a representative from the New England Organ Bank to answer questions about organ and tissue donation and to register as a donor.  You may find out more information about becoming an organ and tissue donor at www.donatelifenewengland.org.  To be a registered organ donor you must be at least 18 years of age.

In addition to organ and tissue donor registration, we are having Bone Marrow Donor registration and matching.  Donors between the ages of 18-44 have the greatest chance for transplant success (more than 90% of the time) and are therefore encouraged to participate in the live bone marrow drive.  Please see the website for costs that may be associated with bone marrow donor matching, registration and many other details about becoming a bone marrow donor at www.bethematch.org.  To be a registered bone marrow donor, you must be at least 18 years of age.

Old North Church extends a warm welcome to all who would like to celebrate the National Donor Sabbath and worship prior to the donor drive.  Services are held at 8:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. in the Sanctuary at 35 Washington Street.
