Neo-Baroque Minimalism and All That

SCULPTURE AND PAINTINGS BY DANIEL ROCHA TO BE EXHIBITED IN STETSON GALLERY THROUGHOUT MARCH

“Neo-Baroque Minimalism, and All That,” an exhibit of the paintings and sculptures of award-winning artist Daniel Rocha, will be the featured exhibit throughout the month of March in the Stetson Gallery of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Marblehead, 28 Mugford St., Marblehead. There will be an opening reception at the Gallery on Sunday, March 3, from 12-2 p.m., with light refreshments served. Rocha will also be on hand in the Gallery for a meet-the-artist event on Sunday, March 10 from 12-2 p.m.

“Like most artists, my work is filtered through an historical/cultural perceptive,” Rocha, of Lowell, says. “While I work in an ‘art for its own sake manner,’ I understand the limitations of that view. As a result, I often poke a bit of fun at that outlook, and my art. That being said, I think that there’s great reward in the singularity of color, form, shape, and the objects made to promote that effort. I hope that these are conveyed through my work.”
