Updated: Worker Falls From Ladder At Warwick

OSHA was called to the scene.

Firefighters and police responded to the Warwick Building around noon on Tuesday after a worker fell from a ladder.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration, a federal agency that regulates workplace safety, was called to the accident scene.

The worker had been working on awnings above The Crazy Candy Lady shop, said Caroline Broderick, a waitress at nearby Palmers restaurant.

Caroline said the man was on the ground on his side but conscious.

He said he had back and arm pain, she said.

The man had been working about 12 to 15 feet off the ground.

Emergency medical personnel placed him on a backboard and he was transported from the scene.

He was transported to Massachusetts General Hospital, according to a police log entry on the incident.

The log states that an OSHA representative was called to the scene and expected to arrive within 30 minutes.

The accident scene was secured, surrounded by yellow caution tape, leaving the the ladder and battery-powered screw gun on the ground as they were after the fall.

Marblehead firefighters responded to the scene as did Marblehead police, including officers on bikes.
