7:12 a.m. — The Tale of the Norlun Trough: So, best I can tell, an expected band of heavy, highly local precipation formed out to sea rather than over our homes. The driving phenomenon is something called a "Norlun Trough." Apparently it's wicked hard to predict. For weather geeks, here's an AccuWeather video from last night explaining the theory of what was expected to happen.
6:58 a.m. — What snow?: As Marblehead begins to dig out from the devastating winter storm...wait, this was more like a dusting. Here at Marblehead Patch we're scratching our heads like the rest of you about how the forecasts could have been so wrong. If you hear, let us know!

6:06 p.m. — Snow forecast increased, Winter Storm Warning declared: The National Weather Service has upped its forecast for the Marblehead area to 5-8 inches, with accumulations of a foot possible.
3:05 p.m. — Forecast calls for up to 7 inches of snow.
