Ben Newman rolled out his new bistro and bar, The Barrelman, two weeks ago serving craft beers and burgers at 259 Washington St.
The Barrelman serves 30 different bottled beers including 20 craft brews.
The menu's foundation is built on locally sourced burgers from grass-fed beef that are antibiotic and hormone free.
The bistro serves salads, sandwiches and daily specials including fresh fish.
The Barrelman bar is open seven days a week from 4 pm to 12 midnight, and serves food from 4:30 pm to 9 pm weekdays and 4:30 pm to 10 pm on weekends.
The Barrelman has the copper bar top and lots of dark wood remaining from The Hurricane.
Ben, 36, has worked in food service for about half his life but this is his first project.
Over the years, the 259 Washington St. location has been home to a variety of establishments, most recently The Hurricane, which closed in the spring.
