Marblehead Man Facing Kidnapping Charge

A local man has been charged with kidnapping and assault with a dangerous weapon after an incident at Bank of America on Paradise Road in Salem.

 

A local man is facing assault and kidnapping charges after allegedly forcing a woman to go to the Bank of America on Paradise Road to take out money Tuesday afternoon.

Ernest Choguryan, 30, of 1 Hammond Place, Marblehead, is now facing charges of assault with a dangerous weapon (knife), kidnapping and attempting to commit a crime, according to this morning's Salem Patch police log post.

At 4:07 p.m., Salem police officers responded to the Paradise Road bank after a woman reportedly told a teller to call for help.

Salem police Lt. Steve Bona said Choguryan is accused of "making (the alleged victim) come to the bank with him." The weapon he's accused of using in the alleged assault, he said, is a knife.

The Eagle Tribune is reporting that Choguryan was ordered held without bail Wednesday in Salem District Court.
