Gatchell Awaits the Next Snow

Gatchell Playground's sliding hill awaits the latest snow cover in a season that has seen lots of sliding.

The weather has see-sawed from mild to frigid, snowy to sunny this winter.

Tuesday afternoon most of the sliding hill at the park bore the remnants of recent runs.

Sled rails, saucer bottoms and flat sheets of plastic mark the hill.

Matted grass shows in spots where boots have climbed. Tiny weeds poke through the thin snow cover.

The latest forecast calls for up to eight inches of fluffy snow with temps in the teens for days to come.

Silent Gatchell will soon have another layer of snow and new sliders to form sliding trails.
