The Marblehead Museum and Historical Society hosted a fundraiser at the Jeremiah Lee Mansion Thursday night.

The nearly doubled their fundraising goal during a candlelit party at the Jeremiah Lee Mansion Thursday night.

The group's A Taste of the 18th Century fundraiser offered participants the chance to see the mansion illumniated by candlelight, sample some delicious 18th century foods and enjoy period music.

According to the organization's Director, Pam Peterson, the society's goal was to raise the $5,000 needed to replace the mansion's Demi-lune window -  a total that was quickly surpassed.

The event drew a crowd of more than 50 and ended up raking in approximately $9,000, she said.

Everything offered to guests at the event was authentic to the period and organizers said the idea was to show off the Lee Mansion "the way Martha and Jeremiah Lee saw it."
