5 Things (And a Sandy Benefit) Dec. 11

Here are the five things you need to know before you start your day in Marblehead.

Today is Tuesday, Dec. 11, and here are the five things you need to know:

1. Aside from a few passing showers, it should be a pleasant day in Marblehead. The National Weather Service is predicting that local residents can expect showers before 8 a.m. Otherwise it will be mostly cloudy, with a high near 46. Tonight is mostly clear, with a low around 28. (sunrise, 7:03 a.m.; high tide, 8:35 a.m.; low tide, 3:01 p.m.; sunset, 4:10 p.m.)

2. Wondering what's going on over at the Glover School site? We're going to publish some pictures of recent progress in today's newsletter. Click Here for a closer look at some of the foundation work that is underway, as well as a composite sketch of what the new school building will ultimately look like.

3. The Old Town House Committee will meet this afternoon in the Town Administrator's Office at Abbot Hall. The meeting is scheduled to begin at 1:30 p.m., according to the posted agenda.

4. Huge names in music are lending their talents to Hurricane Sandy relief efforts at the “12-12-12” concert on Wednesday night. Click Here for all the details.

5. Today in History: On Dec. 11, 1972, Apollo 17 became the sixth and last Apollo mission to land on the moon.
