UPDATE: 5 Corners Kitchen Expansion

The Board of Selectmen unanimously approved a request from 5 Corners Kitchen owner Barry Edelman to more than double his seating capacity.

owner Barry Edelman appeared before the Board of Selectmen Wednesday night to ask for permission to more than double the seating capacity of his restaurant on School Street.

Edelman, who also serves as the restaurant's head chef, told board members that he was "excited to get back in the kitchen" and said his expansion from 1,200-square-feet to 2,300-square-feet will allow him to seat 100.

"I'm here tonight to seek permission to expand the seating capacity on my existing liquor license from 40 to 100, which I'm quite excited about," Edelman said.

When asked by board member James Nye if the into the space formerly occupied by would provide enough room to seat that many patrons, Edelman pointed out that the figure included bar seating.

"What I'll be able to do is actually spread the tables out more...the dining room is doubling in size...and there will be a much larger bar where I can sit more people," Edelman said. "It's going to be a really great layout."

Both 5 Corners Kitchen and Terry's Ice Cream Shop were forced to close their doors after an  left the interior of the building with extensive water and smoke damage.

Board members unanimously approved Edelman's request for more seating and even asked if he was ready to reveal what would be on the menu for the grand reopening this summer.

"The menu is going to be in the same fashion," Edelman said, adding that the expansion will mean he will be working in a larger kitchen that will allow him to "try out some more things."
