Thai Market Alcohol License Approved
The town's Board of Selectmen approved beer and wine license for Thai Market Restaurant last week.
The owner of the recently-opened said he is just waiting for the final OK from town officials to begin serving beer and wine at his restaurant on Hawkes Street.
In short order Wednesday night, the town's Board of Selectmen unanimously approved a motion granting owner Tom Kachananaga a wine and malt beverage license and permitted him to extend his restaurant's operating hours to 11 p.m.
Before voting, board members said they recognized that the license would help attract more business to the restaurant, which opened at 26 Hawkes Street just over a month ago.

"I think it’s a good idea and I understand that people like a little something to go along with their food," board member Judith Jacobi said.
Kachananaga, who was hard at work inside the restaurant Monday afternoon, said he plans on setting up a bar in a small room next to the entrance as soon as all of the paperwork is complete.

"My customers are going to want to be able to drink something with their dinner," Kachananaga said. "It's just common sense."
