Month Long Holiday Celebration Starts Thursday

The annual Christmas Walk is all month long this year.

Marblehead will come alive with holiday lights and festivities this weekend as the annual Christmas Walk kicks off. From a tree lighting Friday night to a and plenty of shopping -- there is no reason to venture far from home this holiday season to get in the spirit.

6 a.m. – 6 p.m. – 15th Annual North Shore Holiday Toy Drive 

North Shore 104.9FM broadcasts for 12 hours live from 9 different locations on the North Shore.  They will be broadcasting live for one hour at the Devereux House from 7:30am to 8:30am. Other Marblehead toy drop-off locations include the Marblehead Community Center/ Council on Aging and the Police Department.  Information: http://northshore1049.com/toydrive.html.

Doors open at 6:00.  Tickets are $10 ($7 for seniors and students), with proceeds to benefit local programs that encourage engagement in history, democracy and/or independent filmmaking.  Following the film, all are welcome to discuss the important issues of  redistricting, representative government, and the value of grassroots activism over cider, wine and hors d'oeuvres at the Marblehead Museum and Historical Society's reception at 170 Washington Street. Elbridge Gerry historian Robert Goodwin and representatives of the many sponsoring groups will be available in the discussion.  Other sponsors are the Marblehead Historical Commission, The League of Women Voters of Marblehead, Marblehead Arts Association, Salem State Department of Political Science and Bates Center for Public Affairs, the Prison Policy Initiative, Common Cause and Green Film Company.
