Marblehead Bracing for Summer Drain Work

Drainage repairs are expected to tie up traffic through the center of Marblehead this summer.

Editor's Note: This morning's original post suggested that this summer's work was on the sewer system. The drain system is what will be replaced.

The commencement of a three-year plan to increase pipe capacity, replace aged or leaky culverts and reconfigure pipe layouts through the center of Marblehead is expected to translate to traffic headaches for local residents this summer.

The Marblehead Water and Sewer Commission will meet with local officials and business owners Monday night to present a pre-construction plan for the Pleasant Street Drainage Project.

The meeting, scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m. at the garage on Tower Way, is meant to allow the contractor and representatives of the police and fire departments to field questions about the project from local residents, according to the posted agenda.

Marblehead Patch will post updates from the meeting Monday night.
