Joey D's Seeking Liquor License

The owner of Joey D's will appear at the Selectmen's meeting tonight.

The local man looking to open in the space formerly occupied by will appear before the Board of Selectmen tonight to request a liquor license transfer.

Prospective owner Joseph Costanzo, of Green Street, told board members last month that he recently sold Luciana's Restaurant and Pizza on Highland Avenue in Salem and is looking to open a business on Pleasant Street that will offer fresh-caught seafood, Italian fare and pizza.

"I've been in the restaurant business for 30 plus years and I've owned my own restaurant since 1985," Costanzo said at the meeting, "so I have many, many years of experience under my belt."

Although Costanzo didn't offer a guess at when Joey D's will be ready for customers, he did say he hopes to open as soon as possible.

The restaurant's hours of operation will be Sunday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
