Joey D's Italian Grill Opens Today

Here's a look inside Marblehead's newest restaurant.

will open its doors to customers today, owner Joseph Costanzo said Monday afternoon.

Though not much has changed to the interior of the restaurant since closed, Costanzo said customers can expect to see the nautical theme replaced with more traditional Italian decorations.

At a meeting earlier this month, the Board of Selectmen unanimously approved Costanzo's request for a liquor license - he said he expects to serve alcohol in the very near future.

Marblehead's new Italian restaurant will open in the 30-seat space formerly occupied by Hooked, located at 115 Pleasant Street - directly across the street from and adjacent to The Rip Tide.

The restaurant's hours of operation will be 11 a.m. to 12 a.m., Monday through Sunday.

Costanzo told the Selectmen that he recently sold Luciana's Restaurant and Pizza on Highland Avenue in Salem and is looking to offer a menu featuring fresh-caught seafood, Italian fare and pizza.

"I've been in the restaurant business for 30 plus years and I've owned my own restaurant since 1985," Costanzo said at the meeting, "so I have many, many years of experience under my belt."
