Hard Shells, Soft Shells, Lobster Rolls and Culls

You can find Paul Crowell at the Marblehead Farmers Market on Saturday mornings from 9 a.m. to noon at the Marblehead Veterans Middle School.

Paul Crowell has been lobstering out of Marblehead since he was 12, when he fished with his grandfather.
He struck out on his own, with his own boat, at 16 and has been lobstering ever since.
He's the last of the lonely fishermen — the only fulltimer he knows of in the area who fishes single traps instead of a string of traps. A stringer is series of traps strung together with rope and pulled in the same haul.
Here, in his lobster shirt at the Marblehead Farmers Market, Paul talks lobster.
