Haley's Market Cafe Slated to Open Doors Next Week

The owners of the new Washington Street cafe say they're almost ready to open for business.

Haley's Market Cafe is on track to open next week, says co-owner Paul Baker.

Baker, who will run the new Washington Street eatery with his wife Julie Vinette (the couple also owns Haley's Wines & Spirits next door), said on Wednesday that interior renovations are almost finished.

All that remains is some plumbing work and final inspections. Baker said the staff is hired and he and his wife can't wait to open the doors.

He anticipated that will be toward the end of next week.

Haley's Cafe takes over the space formerly occupied by The Rockhopper Cafe, which closed back in October.

Vinette has said Haley's will be regularly offering breakfast and lunch along with dinner a couple nights a week.

The couple used to run Foodies Feast in the same spot until closing up shop in 2011 and selling the business -- the Rockhopper opened not long after. For their original fans, Vinette says, the old favorites, including coffee and scones, will be back on the menu.

The new cafe will also feature new state-of-the-art lights, Wi-Fi and additional seating. Selectmen granted a common victualler's license to Haley's earlier this month.
