What's Up With That Coast Guard Cutter in Swampscott?

Some of our readers were wondering about a US Coast Guard ship that has been moored off of Swampscott lately.

We've received a number of emails from readers who were curious about the US Coast Guard cutter that has been moored in the waters off of Swampscott recently.

The ship pictured above, according to the US Coast Guard website, is the USCGC Escanaba (WMEC-907) - a medium endurance cutter based in Boston. Click Here for more information.

According to a representative of the US Coast Guard's Boston office, the Escanaba was in port to act as a First Response Cutter had Wednesday's storm prompted any emergency situations at sea.
