Public Access TV Wins Top National Honors

The Alliance for Community Media has honored MHTV as one of the top public access channels in the country.

Marblehead's public access TV channel, MHTV, recently won “Overall Excellence in Public Access” from the Alliance for Community Media, according to an announcement on its Facebook page.

The “Overall Excellence” category recognizes a station’s entire range of programming and its "responsiveness to community needs."

You can see MHTV on channel 28 on Verizon FiOS and on channel 8 on Comcast.

The award is given out in three categories, based on size of the station and the budget. MHTV won in the small station category, for stations with a budget under $300,000.

More than 1,000 entries were judged in various categories.

MHTV and the other winners will be honored at the 2014 Hometown Media Awards Celebration on Aug. 7 in Philadelphia.

"Thank you to all of the community producers and volunteers who share their time and talents with us and thanks to all of our viewers," the station said in its announcement.
