Polar Plunge in Gloucester on Saturday

Two teams from Marblehead are participating in this year's Polar Plunge in Gloucester.

The Rotary Club's annual Polar Plunger raises money each year for polio immunization and this year two teams from Marblehead are helping the Rotary reach their goal.

The teams will be racing into the ice cold water at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 23, from the shore of the Cape Ann Motor Inn on Long Beach in Gloucester. One team from Marblehead has already raised $4,075 and the other raised $1,375 for the fundraiser that benefits End Polio Now.

Specifically, the money will go towards setting up immunization campaigns in developing countries to eradicate the widespread cases of polio in children. The Rotary has raised $56,066 of its $100,000 goal.
