DPW Storm Concerns Include Causeway Flooding and People in the Street

The blizzard and astronomical high tide have the Marblehead Department of Public Works Department casting a wary eye on the causeway.

It's possible the causeway may be closed around the high tides occuring late Thursday night, around midnight, and again tomorrow, Friday, at 12:13 p.m., said Assistant Director Arthur Graves.

Storm-tossed water can throw rocks, even boulders onto the causeway surface leading to and from the Neck, the assistant director said.

Meanwhile, crews have kept up with plowing operations today but they are concerned about people in the streets in the morning.

The department asks that walkers and cross-country skiers steer clear of the streets so the crews can safely plow.
