The Women's Fund of Essex County Awards $9,000 Grant to Plummer Home

The Plummer Home of Salem, MA has been awarded a $9,000 grant from The Women’s Fund of Essex County, a field of interest fund of the Essex County Community Foundation. The grant is to support young women’s therapeutic groups at Plummer Home’s On Point program.
“We are thrilled to receive this generous grant from The Women’s Fund of Essex County,” said James Lister, executive director of Plummer Home.  “The funds will help to provide therapeutic groups for girls & young women such as conflict resolution, healing from trauma and loss, and therapeutic yoga.”
On Point is Plummer Home’s primary community-based program. Started in 2011, it is an active collaboration with Juvenile Probation and the Salem Police Community Impact Unit. Located in the heart of the Point neighborhood at 50 Leavitt Street in Salem, it has a structured element for young men and women involved with the Essex County Juvenile Court as well as neighborhood youth.
The goal of this program is to keep court-involved youth living at home engaged with their family and in school by providing the Court with an alternative to locking youth up for minor offenses.
Based in Salem, MA, Plummer Home’s programs include foster care, a group home for adolescents, independent living apartments and neighborhood-based services such as On Point. Plummer Home is committed to providing all children the support and skills necessary to become healthy and successful adults.
The Women’s Fund of Essex County is a community of women, families and businesses dedicated to creating social change for women and girls.  An all-volunteer organization, The Women’s Fund raises funds and makes grants to nonprofit programs in Essex County that are changing the lives of women and girls in significant and sustainable ways.  Since its founding in 2003, The Women’s Fund has awarded over $825,000 to 79 non-profit programs that address one of the following critical women’s issues: Economic Self-Sufficiency, Leadership & Empowerment, and Health and Well-Being.
