Enjoy a Free Outdoor Performance by Forty Steps Dance in Nahant this Saturday

If you’re a fan of modern dance, you won’t want to miss this FREE outdoor performance in Nahant next Saturday, Aug. 3, from 5:00- 5:30.

Forty Steps Dance, which celebrated its 20th Anniversary with a performance at Nahant Town Hall in March, continues to honor its heritage with a brief performance at its namesake location—the “forty steps” leading to a scenic cove at the end of Nahant Rd.

At 5:00 sharp, the public is invited to watch the dancers adapt “Steps,” the latest work by choreographer and artistic director Sallee Slagle. Viewing will be best on the beach, but it will be viewable from above as well, Slagle said. Bring your own chairs and water, if needed!

The rain date is Sunday, Aug. 4, same time, same place.

Slagle, who just returned from running a week-long workshop for 20 dancers at Rockport’s Windhover Center for the Performing Arts, hopes to stir up support and funds for the purchase of a set of moveable stairs that her company can use in the studio to finish choreographing the piece.

Parts of “Steps” were previewed for patrons who attended the Forty Steps Dance fundraiser in June.
