Celebration of the life of Dana Snow

Dana Edwin Snow, 65, of Marblehead, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday evening during the snow storm.  He was the husband of Helene Stroh.

Dana was the son of the late Edwin P. and Rosemary (Cruff) Snow of Marblehead.  He graduated from Marblehead High School before joining the U.S. Air Force to serve his country during the Vietnam War from 1968 to 1972.  During his time in the service, Dana was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, the Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon, and the Vietnam Service Medal. He was stationed in Cam Ranh Bay from '69 to '70 and participated in the Cambodian incursion. His tour of duty included many fueling missions. He was Honorably Discharged as a Staff Sergeant and returned to Marblehead where he began what would be a life-long career working for the town that his family has lived in since the 1750s.  Working his way up through various public works positions, Dana culminated his career as the Superintendent of the Water and Sewer Department with responsibility as well in the Highway Department while also serving on the board of the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority (MWRA). He retired in 2010 from the town and worked for Maestranzi Brothers in Beverly until his passing doing what he loved; working on small engines and dealing with the public.

Dana was a passionate golfer who spent many weekends despite the weather on Cape Ann Golf Course in Essex. He often was seen teeing off at the crack of dawn. When not golfing, Dana enjoyed traveling, photography,and was an avid Patriots fan.
Along with his wife, Helene Stroh of Marblehead, Dana is survived by two sons, Kevin Snow and his wife Jennifer of Rowley, and Greg Snow and his fiancee Reagan Crowley of Salem; a step-son, Joshua Stroh; a sister, Betsy Lamb and her husband Joe of Colorado; three grandchildren, Charlotte, Victoria, and Isaac; a former wife, Kathleen Snow of Salem, several nieces and nephews and many cousins including Bart Snow and his wife Tuula of Marblehead.

Relatives and friends are invited to a Memorial Service in St. Stephen's United Methodist Church, 67 Cornell Rd. Marblehead, Saturday at 11 am.  Burial will follow in Waterside Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Fisher House Foundation .
