Fire Station Open House on Saturday

Noteworthies in Marblehead today.

1. Fire Notes: This request comes from Marblehead fire Captain Michael Porter.

The Marblehead Fire Department, 1 Ocean Avenue, invites local families to its annual open house on Oct. 19, from 10 am – 2 pm.

October is National Fire Safety Month and during our open house families will learn about fire prevention, participate in fire safety activities and enjoy free pizza, thanks to the generous donation of Papa Gino’s.

This years’ topic is “Prevent Kitchen Fires”. More fires start in the Kitchen than any other part of the home! We will be demonstrating how to properly extinguish a stove top fire safely.

We will have the Essex County Fire Safety Smoke House, where Children and Adults can learn about fire safety. The house is designed to give “hands on” training on how to escape a building on fire safely and what to do once you’re out. We will discuss the importance of smoke alarms and how important it is to have a home evacuation plan.

We will also be demonstrating our thermal imaging cameras, the “Jaws of Life” and as always children can douse the flames at our “Squirt House”.

Set aside the date and come visit us. For more information call Captain Michael Porter at 781-639-3428
