The Sand Sculpture Competition is also scheduled for June 30, from 9:30 am to 1 pm. All are welcome to bring buckets, shovels and creativity to this cherished Festival family event, open to sand sculptors of all ages. Chairperson Sandy McLaughlin encourages everyone to “sign up at the Festival’s registration table on Devereux Beach—it’s free—then dig in and create the design of your dreams.”
Judging and an Awards Ceremony will culminate the Competition. Recognition is given to works in many categories. “The Festival extends its thanks to Coffey Ice Cream and Terry’s Ice Cream, providers of delicious ice cream for Sand Sculpture participants,” McLaughlin said.

More About Devereux Beach
Located on Ocean Avenue just before the causeway, Marblehead's most popular beach offers more than five acres of sand, picnic tables, pavilions and playgrounds, plus a nearby restaurant and parking lot.
Lifeguards are on duty once the beach opens for summer in late June. Restrooms are only open when lifeguard staff are present.
During summer months, non-residents must pay $5-$10 to park between 8am and 4pm. Marblehead residents must have a facility sticker or they will be charged the non-resident rate.
Four grills are available for through the Parks and Recreation Department. Bonfires, pets, glass containers and alcohol are prohibited on the beach.
