Eelgrass in Salem Sound-Our Coastal Treasure

235 Pleasant St, Marblehead, MA | Get Directions »
FREE

Eelgrass is one of Salem Sound's coastal treasures. Nutrient rich, this underwater grass plays a huge role in our marine ecosystem--providing food and shelter for an abundance of marine life. Salem Sound has significant eelgrass meadows.

Tay will take us underwater for an illustrated presentation on why this habitat is so important for fisheries, water quality and protecting our coastlines from storms.

She will also cover ongoing restoration and monitoring projects, including conservation moorings designed to minimize boating impacts to the sea floor.

This session is free and open to the public.
