The winning entry in this year's Marblehead Festival of Arts Logo Contest was announced at a ceremony at The Landing Restaurant Tuesday night. According to the organization's website, some 80 Essex county artists submitted designs, hoping to join the ranks of the talented artists who, over the years, "have presented their best efforts to capture the spirit of the Festival and of Marblehead." The winning entry, submitted by Brandon Miller, earned the most of the 1,100 votes cast by the public and was selected by a panel of three local artists: Shirley Huller White, Paul Brancaleone and Tammy …
The sound of sirens, antique car horns and screaming children echoed off of buildings across town Monday morning as more than 1,000 local residents took part in the annual Horribles Parade. The wacky costumes worn by those who marched in the parade included droves of Boston Bruins fans, tornadoes, lobsters, soldiers from the Colonial era and thunderstorms. Here are some of Marblehead Patch's favorite photos from the Horribles Parade - readers interested in a copy of the video slideshow above can contact Owen Boss at owen.boss@patch.com.
One of the most popular events at last weekend's Marblehead Festival of Arts was the Model Boat Regatta at Redds Pond. The Marblehead Festival of Arts hosted a kite-flying festival at Devereux Beach Saturday that dazzled beach-goers, boaters and motorists traveling along the causeway. Residents of all ages took part in the event, which allowed them to fly their own kites or pay a fee to make a new one from scratch. Here are just a few of the colorful kites we saw dancing over Marblehead last weekend.  Marblehead Patch readers interested in a copy of the video slideshow shown above can contact Owen Boss at owen.boss@patch.com.

The only requirement to be among the chosen in this year's awards ceremony was that the artists reside in or work in Essex County, or belong to one of the region's art associations.
