I hate to disappoint you but most of the styles you think are "new" now are the things weRead More were wearing in late 80's , You're skinny jeans and leggings and print jeans, deconstructed and what we called acid washed and the hideous terry tops and sweaters and motto jackets showing at the Gap are what we wore back then. Just as lots of styles have been recycled through out time(like the mini skirt.flapper dress etc.)

Nice article Alex! Just some things I want to clarify. First - I played soprano bugle (trumpet) inRead More the Boston Crusaders drum and bugle corps and then I joined the U.S. Marine Drum & Bugle Corps based at Marine Barracks, 8th & I in Washington D.C. Second – It is not competitions that I want to expose the band program to, it is music festivals. Some are competitions, but many, like UMass Band Day, are not. Lastly – last sentence: Making music and having fun doing so are the important things and the reward for doing so are memories that you will have for the rest of your lives. Great article! You’re a good reporter.
