Live Music This Weekend: Ryan Montbleau at the Me & Thee

Here is a round-up of live music throughout the North Shore this weekend.

This weekend is packed with live music on the North Shore and a whole bunch of bands playing a wide variety of music genres, from classic rock to blues and soul, can be seen for free at rock clubs and restaurants throughout the region.  The Guy Ford Band is playing the Red Rock Bistro on Friday night. This local group consists of a "five piece eclectic acoustic folk rock band featuring Guy Ford's unique guitar work and the incredible cello playing of Daniel Rowe with strong 3-4 part harmonies. This weekend is packed with live music on the North Shore and a whole bunch of bands playing a wide variety of music genres, from classic rock to blues and soul, can be seen for free at rock clubs and restaurants throughout the region.  The Drop Zone is playing Rockafellas on Saturday night. Per the band's wesbite, the Drop Zone "is a full production rock/pop/dance cover band. Drop Zone is a top-notch act covering everything from The Bravery to Bob Marley, Rage Against The Machine to The Killers and The Rolling Stones to Katy Perry. 'It's Never Going to be the Same,' Angie Tells People Magazine

Angie Miller reflects on her American Idol hometown visit in an interview with People magazine.

Angie Miller of Beverly, one of the Top 3 finalists on season 12 of American Idol, told People Magazine that "life will never be the same" after her hometown visit on Saturday. She knew she was back in Massachusetts when she got off the plane and it was cold. And she said that when there were 200 people gathered outside her home when she went to leave she knew life would no longer be the same. Live Music This Weekend: Myanna at Chianti's

Here is a round-up of live music throughout the North Shore this weekend.

This weekend is packed with live music on the North Shore and a whole bunch of bands playing a wide variety of music genres, from classic rock to blues and soul, can be seen for free at rock clubs and restaurants throughout the region.  Myanna is playing Chianti's this Saturday night. Per the Chianti's website, "One of the hottest and most soulful saxophonists to be based in Massachusetts, Myanna plays music that mixes together jazz improvisation with funky rhythms, expressive playing and catchy tunes." "Her music, whether it is an original or a cover tune, is colorful and infectious, and she is a consistent crowd pleaser." North Shore Philharmonic Orchestra Will Complete Its 65th Season Sunday

Come listen to music by Wagner and Bartok, and the Lehmanns playing Mozart.

The North Shore Philharmonic Orchestra will wrap up its 65th season Sunday, April 21 with a program that features its Music Director, Robert Lehmann on violin and his wife Kimberly on viola in Mozart’s Sinfonia Concertante.  The program also includes music by Richard Wagner and Bela Bartok’s Concerto for Orchestra. Sign up For Library Workshop by Award Winning Quiltmaker

Margarita Blumkina will be offering a workshop on Saturday, April 20, from 1:30 pm - 3:30 pm. In the meantime check out her show, Rainbow of Quilts, at the library gallery.

  The Abbot Library is pleased to present an exhibit of selected quilts by award-winning quiltmaker Margarita Blumkina. The show highlights Blumkina’s extraordinary creativity in bringing together color and pattern, often making use of vintage fabrics which lend her quilts a quality of visual warmth, unusual in newly crafted quilts. In 2012, Blumkina’s quilts were included as semi-finalists in two separate American Quilter’s Society Shows, one of the most prestigious of competitive nation-wide quilt shows. In 2011, one of Blumkina’s quilts received a 1st prize Blue Ribbon at the Topsfield Fair; in 2012, she received a Blue, a White and a Purple Ribbon, at the Fair, for three of her quilts.
