Marblehead residents can expect a new restaurant offering pizza, Italian fare and seafood to open soon on Pleasant Street.
According to a sign recently posted in the front window of the space formerly occupied by Hooked Seafood & Grill, Joey D's will be opening soon.
It was announced at a Board of Selectmen's meeting last fall that Hooked would be closing its doors for the winter season. Then, in April, former owner Ben Rhodes notified board members that the restaurant wouldn't be reopening at all.
Rhodes told the Selectmen that a number of factors contributed to the permanent closure of the restaurant, located at 145 Pleasant St., and that two local men were vying to purchase the space next to The Rip Tide.
Also opening later this summer in Marblehead: Captn's Bakery, Casa Corona, Orange Leaf Frozen Yogurt, Just Fabulous!, Terry's Ice Cream, 5 Corners Kitchen and Candy Pop Sweet Shop.
